They can work for very light duty, but for a folding table that will carry real weight, it’s usually better to fasten into the masonry units themselves when the wall and hardware allow it.
The table’s brackets matter too. A flimsy hinge or shallow support arm can become the weak link even if the anchors are excellent. Look for hardware that gives the folded top stable support and keeps the open position from wobbling side to side.

Don’t overtighten to the point of crushing the anchor or stripping the masonry interface. With masonry, “snug and secure” is better than “one more turn just because.” If the fastener spins, never gets tight, or feels mushy, stop and reassess the anchor type or the hole quality.
Add a margin of safety
For a folding table, the most useful safety margin comes from both hardware and behavior. Use stronger anchors than the bare minimum if the table will hold tools, cookware, or other dense items. If children will use it, choose a locking mechanism that stays secure in both the open and folded positions.
