If the site is obviously uneven, the goal isn't to make the earth perfectly flat by itself. The goal is to build a base that creates a flat, supported plane above it.

Anchor it for wind, movement, and peace of mind

Weatherproof the vulnerable seams, not just the obvious ones

Uneven ground often shows up later as small gaps, not dramatic failures. That makes weatherproofing especially important around the bottom edge, door threshold, roof joints, and any place panels meet framing. Use the sealants, flashing, and trim pieces recommended for your shed material rather than trying to improvise with whatever is on the shelf. Different kits handle water differently, and the wrong caulk or tape can fail early.

Pay attention to the base-to-wall transition.
